Embracing the totalness of life.

You probably have heard this phrase before: life is a journey, not a destination. And it’s up to us to choose how we experience it. We can choose to only focus on the struggles and challenges, or we can also choose to embrace the joys and beauty that surround us. One simple tool to keep moving in the direction of being more intentional and grateful for the fullness of life is practicing gratitude.

When we practice gratitude, we shift our perspective to focus on the positive aspects of our lives. We become more aware of the goodness around us and the blessings we actually have. Even in difficult times, gratitude can help us find meaning and purpose in our struggles.

To practice gratitude, you can start by creating a daily gratitude list. Each day, take a few minutes to write down three things you are grateful for. They can be small things like a hot cup of coffee in the morning or a kind word from a friend, or bigger things like your health or your family.

But it’s not just about making a list. It’s about truly feeling and savoring the thing you’re grateful for. Take a moment to reflect on each item on your list and allow yourself to feel the positive emotions associated with them. By doing this, you create a habit of noticing the good things in your life, and you train your brain to focus on the positive.

As you practice gratitude, you’ll find that you’re beginning to enjoy the journey of life more fully. You’ll feel more content and fulfilled, and you’ll notice more of the beauty and joy around you. And when difficult times come, you’ll have a reservoir of positive emotions and experiences to draw upon.

It’s important to approach this process with grace. Remember that gratitude is a practice, and it’s okay if you don’t feel grateful all the time. Be gentle with yourself and allow yourself to feel your emotions without judgment. Celebrate each small step and use setbacks as learning opportunities to keep moving forward.

So here’s your action item: start practicing gratitude today by creating a daily gratitude list. Take a few minutes each day to reflect on the good things in your life and savor the positive emotions that come with them. As you do this, you’ll find that the journey of life becomes more fulfilling, and you’ll be better equipped to handle whatever challenges come your way.

Overcoming Self-Imposed Limitations.

Have you ever found yourself holding back from pursuing a dream or trying something new because of limiting beliefs or self-doubt? It’s not uncommon for us to let fear and uncertainty keep us from moving towards what we really want and who we want to become.

But what if we made a pledge to do one thing we thought we couldn’t each month? What if we stepped out of our comfort zones and challenged ourselves to overcome those self-imposed limitations?

The good news is … it’s never too late to get started.

One simple tool we can use to move in the direction of empowerment and overcome self-imposed limitations is creating a “brave list.” This list is a collection of things that we’ve always wanted to do but haven’t attempted because of fear or limiting beliefs. It can be anything from starting a new hobby to traveling solo to even starting a business.

Once we have our brave list, we can take small steps towards accomplishing an item on it. It might be uncomfortable or even scary at first, but as we push ourselves to do things we thought we couldn’t, we begin to break free from those limiting beliefs and gain confidence in our abilities. This is something called the confidence/competence loop.

But it’s important to approach this process with self-compassion and care. We must be graceful with ourselves and understand that growth and progress take time. It’s in the individual steps that equal a mile. So, celebrate each small step and use setbacks as learning opportunities.

By doing things you thought you couldn’t, you begin to redefine your capacity and step more into your power. By doing this – you can discover new passions, gain new experiences and fun opportunities. And ultimately, you can create a life that’s fulfilling and authentic to you.

So here’s your action item. Create your brave list today and take that first small step towards something you thought you couldn’t do. Remember … you have the power within you to overcome self-imposed limitations and live a life that’s truly extraordinary.

Get to it and journey on.

The post Do What You Said You Couldn’t first appeared on onelife.

Embracing the Power of Presence.

Life is short, and it’s up to us to make the most of the time we have on this planet. Sometimes, we get so caught up in the hustle and complexities of everyday life that we forget to truly live. That’s why it’s important to embrace the power of presence and dare to live.

Presence is the art of being fully engaged and present in the moment, without distraction or judgment. When we’re truly present, we can experience the richness of life and savor every moment. It allows us to connect deeper with ourselves, our loved ones, and the world around us.

One tool we can use to cultivate presence is journaling. This simple practice involves taking a few minutes each day to reflect on our thoughts, emotions, and experiences. We can write about what challenges we’re facing, what we’re grateful for and what we’re most looking forward to. By doing this, we can begin to create the space for self-awareness, clarity and personal transformation to bloom.

But journaling isn’t the only time we can get present. We can bring it into every aspect of our lives. Whether we’re eating, walking, or talking with a friend, we can practice being fully present in the moment. When we do this, we open ourselves up to new possibilities, experiences, connections and the richness of the journey.

Dare to live means finding your expression, and embracing the unknowns and enjoying the journey. By cultivating presence and using tools like journaling, we can unlock our inner resources and lead pretty extraordinary lives – or just fulfilling, fun ones.

So if you’re feeling stuck or feel like life is passing you by … take a deep breath and ask yourself: how can I live more or bigger? How can I begin to do the things that I thought I couldn’t do?

As you think about this and embrace the power of presence, you can use it all to create a life that’s rich, fulfilling, and full of joy.

The time is now, and this is your one life – make the most of it. And journey on.

The post Dare to Live first appeared on onelife.
